PLACE Landscape Architecture is proud to partner with the City of Spokane in designing the future of Meadowglen Park—a 30-acre undeveloped site in the North Indian Trail neighborhood. This project responds to rapid residential growth and a documented need for better park access in the area, where nearly 2,800 households currently fall outside a 10-minute walk to a public park.

With design now 60% complete, Meadowglen Park is being reimagined as a fully accessible, multi-generational community space. Our plans include a large playground, a network of 4,000–5,000 linear feet of walking and biking trails, covered picnic areas, and restrooms. Community input has also led to the inclusion of four pickleball courts, two sand volleyball courts, and bocce ball—offering recreational options for all ages.

The park design emphasizes sustainability and integration with the site’s natural features. A preserved ponderosa pine forest will offer shade and buffer traffic noise, while open meadows and irrigated lawns balance ecological performance with usability. A dry stream bed will help manage stormwater while functioning as a seasonal landscape feature.

Access is a key focus, with a 64-stall parking lot and nearby STA bus stop planned to serve both local and regional visitors. The park will also function as a trailhead to surrounding natural areas.

Estimated construction costs range from $7.5 to $8 million, with about half already funded through state and federal grants. A proposed November park levy could secure the remaining funding. If not approved, a scaled-down version of the park will still proceed.

PLACE is honored to help shape this important project, which will significantly expand park access in one of Spokane’s most underserved neighborhoods. Construction is anticipated to begin next year.
