Landscape Designer / CAD Technician

Employment Type: Full time

JOB SUMMARY:

Support the studio in design, plan production, graphics presentation, construction documentation, and construction administration. Work in a studio atmosphere where collaboration, flexibility, and self-motivation are important. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Work as part of the overall design team on projects that range in scale and complexity.

  • Setup projects in PLACE LA system (sheets, xref’s, Land F/X, etc).  Create initial site plans for supervisor review and complete/track redlines and drafting tasks as directed.

  • Assist in the development of plans, details, studies, reports, and graphics.

  • Assist with field work including site visits.

  • Managing assigned project tasks to ensure expectations and project goals are met.

  • Design collaboration with project teams.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of 0 to 3 years supervised design experience. Strong computer and hand graphic skills as well as proficiency in software programs relevant to the industry including AutoCAD, Land-FX, Adobe, Creative Suite, 3D Modeling software like Sketch Up and Lumion, and Bluebeam. Excellent organization and communication skills.  Prioritization and time management skills. Enthusiasm for the profession and a willingness to learn on a variety of projects. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment. 

CERTIFICATES REQUIRED: Valid State Driver’s License and a BSLA or MLA from an accredited university.

Compensation based upon licensure, skillset, and years of experience.

Are you a Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer with at least 3 years of experience producing landscape designs, graphics, construction documents, and technical specifications? Does your design language speak to commercial and urban environments, recreation, streetscapes, and complex single-family estates? Are you licensed? Do you enjoy creative and technical design processes; working alongside others in a studio environment?

Can you…

  • Develop site and landscape designs for client review and approval

  • Produce construction documents in AutoCAD / Civil 3D including hardscape layout plans, grading/drainage plans, planting, lighting and irrigation plans, and construction details.

  • Conduct periodic on-site observation of construction activities to monitor compliance with plans.

  • Participate in client presentations, public outreach, and regulatory meetings.

  • Represent the firm with a high level of integrity and professionalism.

Do you have…

  • A minimum of 3 years of employment experience on commercial, education, institutional and complex single-family environments.

  • A BLA from an accredited program.

  • Knowledge of local plant materials, climate, and planting practices.

  • A basic understanding of design principles and site design codes and regulations.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and multi-task in a deadline-driven, creative environment.

  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Civil 3D and the Adobe Creative Suite preferred; high comfort level with software and technology in general. There will be a test, we promise.
