Description:
Pullman City Cemetery occupies Pioneer Hill at the south edge of town, looking out across the Palouse. The grounds began as Fairmount and AOUW cemeteries, platted in 1893 and later joined as the city cemetery. Several thousand people rest here. The city’s comprehensive plan calls for the cemetery to grow as need and site conditions require.
PLACE Landscape Architecture supported the City of Pullman on a 2.5-acre addition immediately south of the older sections and west of the newest burial ground. The parcel is part of city-owned land held for this purpose. It had been an agricultural field on a Palouse slope, with Dry Fork Creek and seasonal drainage nearby — a grading and water problem as much as a layout problem.
