Moses Lake Temple

The Moses Lake Washington Temple occupies a 17.2-acre site on Yonezawa Boulevard, immediately north of Interstate 90 and across from Yonezawa Park. The campus includes the temple, an adjacent meetinghouse, and the walks, lawns, planting, berms, and irrigation that hold the two buildings in a single commemorative landscape.

PLACE Landscape Architecture supported Utah-based CRSA with site design, irrigation, resource management, and construction observation. The site is unusually large for a temple of this class, and it sits in the Columbia Basin — a windy, semi-arid climate where summer heat, winter freeze, and limited water make planting and irrigation as much a resource problem as an aesthetic one.The work had to deliver year-round shade and color while remaining maintainable at campus scale.
